As with many creative souls, art chooses them, not the other way around, and that is true of Rose. As a toddler, she deemed her Mom’s walls “too plain” and made them “pretty” with her big sister’s crayons. Mom and Dad quickly knew to supply this budding artist with her own art equipment, and soon Rose was on her artistic path. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Studio Art from Coker College while on full scholarship and became a full-time painter in 1984 and has never looked back!
Rose employs light, value, and color to transport the viewer to an understanding of Charleston’s People and Places. Using a harmonious palette and candent brushwork, she seeks to capture Carolina’s majestic skies and ever-changing marshes.
Rose has traveled extensively and has studied with many esteemed artists. Rarely a day goes by where she isn’t at the easel. She desires to bring life and love to each painting.
